Community Fridge Volunteers (Witney)
Apply to volunteer with the Witney Community Fridge!
Food waste is a big issue in the UK, with an estimated third of all food ending up in the bin. The Witney Community Fridge will take surplus food from local supermarkets and other businesses and make it freely available to all members of the community. In doing so, it will fight food waste and food poverty, as well as building stronger bonds within the community.
You can help us set up the fridge in the following ways:
- Help find a suitable venue, which is accessible to the community
- Collection of food from donors (requires access to car)
- Fridge cleaning and monitoring
- Local fridge promotion
- Organising events and fundraisers to support the fridge and the local community
- Social media
Please contact us and pass this on to anyone else you think may be interested and help
spread the word!
This fridge is supported by The Replenish Scheme, which aims to engage Oxfordshire citizens on the issue of food waste and composting. Our current volunteers are involved in a wide range of initiatives, from setting up community fridges, to running food waste workshops and cookery courses.
Please note: The postcode provided is not the exact location for the fridge, as we are still looking for a venue.
