Secretary needed to support the smooth running of Oxford Fair Trade Steering Group
This is an critical role to support the Chair of Oxford Fair Trade in the smooth functioning of the Steering Group, which helps Oxford to maintain its status as a Fairtrade City and to promote fair trade in Oxford and beyond. The Secretary would be responsible for planning agendas with the Chair for circa six meetings a year including the AGM, for room booking, taking minutes and maintaining records including membership records. She or he would be expected to attend four to six events each year and be available to assist with their organisation and help to keep the website and other social media updated. This year we are excited to be joining forces with the Oxford Oxfam Group to run the One World Fair in the Town Hall and are planning lots of great fair trade talks, actions, music, stalls and more. The Secretary would also help prepare Oxford's Fairtrade City renewal application every two years.
The Oxford Fair Trade Coalition is a voluntary association of Fair Trade businesses, activists, academic bodies, faith groups, students and interested individuals. Its purpose is to promote Fair Trade in the City of Oxford, contribute to keeping the Fair Trade Movement alive and relevant, be a catalyst for Fair and ethical trade globally and maintain Oxford's Fair Trade City status. It is organised by a voluntary Steering Group with about a dozen members including Oxford's fair trade shops, the University of Oxford, Brookes University, Divine Chocolate, Oxfam, Quakers and more.
